Robert James Waller’s best-selling novel, “The Bridges of Madison County,” might have brought this small Iowa county to light, but the quaint covered bridges have brought travelers back to the area again and again. There are six bridges throughout the area (part of 19 original bridges), most dating to the turn of the 20th century.
