Antwerp at a Glance

Historic Antwerp was the home of the painter Pieter Paul Rubens, medieval guilds-men and the generations that built its beautiful cathedrals, public buildings and homes. Visitors come to Antwerp to enjoy its compact medieval core and peruse its art museums. Others revel in the art galleries, fashion shows and high profile clubs that help give Antwerp its vibrant contemporary feel.

Many visitors arrive in Antwerp's train station, which is a neo-Gothic destination in its own right. Churches, market squares and the characteristic gabled homes are other architectural wonders to visit. If you are feeling hungry, stop into a cafe, a pub or a restaurant, depending on your tastes. Eat in the street facing a square bustling with activity, or sit inside with a white table cloth. Antwerp is a city of contrasts waiting to take you on an exciting ride.
