Churchill at a Glance

Churchill sits on a remote tip of Hudson Bay and is famous for its wildlife viewing. This tiny village fills with polar bears and migrating whales and is one of the best places to view these animals.

There are no roads to Churchill. All visitors must either take a plane, or a 40 hour train ride. The train takes you through remote regions of Canada covered with forests, lakes and glaciated tundra. Both methods of transportation can be quite expensive depending on the time of year.

Once in Churchill, you'll need a guide, whether it's for whale watching or polar bear viewing. Most people have tour, lodging and transportation arranged for them in a package deal. Arrive in July or August for whale watching tours. October and November have the highest concentration of polar bears.
